Cathy is married and has 3 children.  Ashley is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Justine is an attorney, and Alex graduated from Cal Poly Slo and is in paramedic school pursuing a Medic/firefighter career.  With her children grown, Cathy has a lot of time to help bring the Manta Ray team to a top contender.

Cathy began swimming for the Woodland Swim Team in Northern California at the age of 8 and continued swimming with that same team until college.  Cathy comes from a family of swimmers (the 50 meter pool in Woodland where she grew up has since been named after her father Charles Brooks)  her daughters Ashley and Justine both went on to swim at NCAA Division 1 programs,  UC Davis and Loyola Marymount University.  As a young swimmer, Cathy held multiple pool and team records as well as competing at high level meets.  A top finalist at sectional championship meets as well as competing in her first Junior National championship meet at age 14 in Ithaca New York were highlights.   Cathy went on to swim at NCAA Division 1 San Diego State and enjoyed the college team and travels.

In 1997 Cathy was hired on to coach the Granite hills high school swim team.  After 4 years of developing a team who had not won in a very long time, Cathy developed the team to a top high school swim team. Starting in 2002, Cathy lead the Granite hills swim team to 10 consecutive league championships with a record of 90 wins and 1 tie.  During her time as head girls coach, Cathy has received the honor of being named CIF coach of the year, Granite hills coach of the year, league coach of the year and coached a CIF champion, as well as numerous top 6 finalist.

Cathy had a vision of a new pool at Granite.  With a lot of help from the district, Granite hills principal, administration and a lot of parent volunteers, the dream became a reality in 2012.  With the new pool, there are endless possibilities.

While Cathy has been coaching high school swimmers and teaching little ones how to swim for years, Manta Ray Aquatics (MRA) is a new venture for her.  In just a little over a year, MRA has grown to one of the larger teams in the county.   This is a tribute to the fantastic families MRA is lucky to have!
